INFID was honored to be invited as a speaker at the International Conference organized by the Potohar Organization for Development Advocacy (PODA) in Pakistan. The conference, held from 28–30 October 2025 in Lahore and Islamabad, brought together scholars and experts from various Muslim-majority countries to review marriage age laws and develop recommendations for best practices.

Representatives came from countries including Indonesia, Morocco, Yemen, Oman, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Syria, and Rwanda.

INFID’s Research and Public Education Lead, Andi Faizah, presented Indonesia’s experience in advocating for the minimum marriage age of 19 years (previously 19 for men and 16 for women). She also shared INFID’s research findings on child marriage dispensation, lessons learned from advocacy efforts, and strategies for the future.

The conference was attended by local government representatives, civil society organizations, media, religious leaders, academics, and other stakeholders. Its outcomes will serve as recommendations for stakeholders and be utilized to strengthen public education and policy reform efforts aimed at protecting women’s rights.
